School is ON tomorrow (8 April 2024) but access via Footbridge is unsafe for student use

Footbridge Closed

Dear parents and carers and students,

I hope the Figtree community has survived the deluge over the weekend with minimal damage and everyone is safe.

It is important to let you know that the school will be fully operational tomorrow, Monday 8 April.

However, the footbridge leading from O'Briens Road to the back of the school will be inaccessible to students until further notice. This is due to debris accumulation and other safety hazards on the footbridge itself, plus the walking path at the back of the school is extremely muddy. Pot holes have also formed in this area and there is broken fencing and fallen trees.

Consequently, this area will be cordoned off, and students will need to take the alternate, longer route to school.

The school will promptly erect temporary external fencing and the bottom oval will be out of action until it has adequately dried out and all debris has been removed.

Please note that students who normally take the bus from O'Briens Road in the afternoon need to have an early leave note signed by their parents or guardians to enable them to leave 10 minutes early; this should allow these students enough time to take the long way around the school to reach the bus stop.

Finally, as a result of the flooding event, should any Figtree families require assistance please inform the Front Office staff at school tomorrow so we can try to offer you support.

Take care everyone,

Daniel Ovens
